Jenessa Hoffman

During her tenure, she has put together a Board of Advisors and senior leadership team with a collective eighty-seven years of experience in the field of corporate Human Resources, particularly in the federal homeland security and defense space. Since Ms. Hoffman became President in 2008, Potomac Recruiting’s client base has grown by 400%.

Ms. Hoffman is an expert at assisting companies in finding the resources they need to grow or expand their business in the federal space. With her background as a business attorney, she brings to Potomac Recruiting her experience in human resources and employment rights. Her expert guidance has helped many clients to identify and hire the best possible candidate for their particular needs. Ms. Hoffman has advised clients of all sizes; under her leadership, Potomac Recruiting has assisted Fortune 500 firms on key hires leading to contract wins and has helped grow small businesses through strategic resource additions and management.

Ms. Hoffman writes a monthly blog giving advice to job seekers and hiring companies for the organization “Women in Homeland Security” (WHS). She has also been quoted in industry publications and has been called upon to speak in front of several groups, including WHS and the University of Pennsylvania alumni organization in Washington, DC.

Prior to working for Potomac, Ms. Hoffman was a senior associate with Anderson Kill & Olick, where she specialized in the areas of Bankruptcy & Restructuring, Corporate & Securities, and Real Estate and Construction. She has advised small and medium-sized businesses on daily business concerns, buyers and sellers in the acquisition and sale of businesses, lenders and borrowers in commercial financing transactions, and creditors' and bondholders' committees in bankruptcy actions. She acted as de facto in-house counsel for numerous clients, responsible for providing advice on general corporate matters, including legal issues and risks related to various corporate actions and compliance with the terms of clients’ governing documents, negotiating with current and former employees regarding issues such as employment terms and conditions and post-employment benefits, and devising strategies and draft documents with respect to responses to contract violations of customers, suppliers and franchisees.

Ms. Hoffman attended The University of Pennsylvania, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in History, in 1996. She then went on to receive her Juris Doctor at the Fordham University of Law in 1999, where she was a Stein Scholar in Public Interest Law and Ethics, as well as a member of Fordham Moot Court Board and the Associate Editor of the Fordham International Law Journal. While at Fordham she completed a yearlong externship at Fordham's Civil & Employment Rights Clinic, where she co-authored the New York City Bar Association's comments on New York State's proposed AIDS/HIV regulations. She was then admitted to practice law in the state of New Jersey in 2000, and the State of New York in 2001. Ms. Hoffman was also licensed to practice law in the Southern and Eastern Federal Districts of New York.
