Potomac Recruiting President Quoted in the Washington Post

Washington Post
Report finds D.C. area a hotbed for cybersecurity jobs By Sarah Halzack, Published: March 8 For evidence of the boom in cybersecurity jobs in the Washington region, one could simply take a drive up Interstate 95 toward Fort Meade, Md. The crop of upscale apartments and restaurants make clear that white-collar professionals are moving into the area as it is being remade into the federal government’s hub for cybersecurity work. And an analysis from Burning Glass Technologies shows how much appetite there is in the region for workers with this skill set. Burning Glass conducts daily reviews of job postings across 32,000 online sites. In a report released last week, the company said that the Washington metropolitan area had more than 23,000 job postings for cybersecurity positions in 2013, a figure that far surpasses the number of such postings in any other region. New York had the second-highest number with just over 15,000....

Potomac Recruiting President, Jenessa Hoffman, quoted in the Washington Post

As demand rises for cybersecurity professionals, so does their pay The demand for cybersecurity professionals far outstrips the supply of these highly skilled workers in the Washington area, a dynamic which experts and recruiters say is driving up compensation for qualified individuals and fueling fierce competition among employers to land top talent. Pay for cybersecurity analysts in the region jumped 10.1 percent this year, according to data compiled by consulting firm Akron on behalf of the Human Resource Association of the National Capital Area. That exceeds the growth in compensation across all jobs in the region, which was 2.1 percent this year. The scarcity of cybersecurity workers means that the job candidates "hold all the cards," said Kathy Lavinder, executive director of SI Placement, a Bethesda-based recruiting firm that specializes in placement for information security jobs. Because of that, "The compensation piece is the one piece where employers know they...
