Potomac Recruiting’s Bobby Spear Speaks on TAP Panel at Ft. Meade

Last week Potomac Recruiting's Managing Director of Military and Federal, Bobby Spear, went to Ft. Meade in Maryland to sit on a 5 speaker panel on behalf of the military's Training Assistance Program (TAP).  TAP is part of a holistic life cycle approach to career development designed to provide transitioning Military Personnel with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to plan and execute a successful job search. At the panel, which was entitled "What Employers are Looking For," Mr. Spear, a veteran of the Air Force National Guard spoke to an audience of over 35 participants consisting of senior officers and senior enlisted men and women as part of a career forum in which Potomac Recruiting provided lunch for all participants.  He emphasized the need to expand upon existing capabilities to make them marketable for the private sector and be in the best position for employment.  Mr. Spear talked about...

Potomac Recruiting Welcomes Bobby J. Spear as Managing Director of Federal and Military

Potomac Recruiting is proud to announce the addition of Mr. Bobby J. Spear to its staff of senior recruitment professionals. Mr. Spear brings with him a long and distinguished career in law enforcement and security, as well as a highly successful management experience with Integrated Systems Improvement Services, Lockheed Martin, the U.S Air Force National Guard, and the United States Secret Service. Bobby J. Spear comes to Potomac Recruiting from Integrated Systems Improvement Services (ISIS) where he served as regional director for security team operations since 2010. Prior to his position within ISIS, Mr. Spear began his private sector career in 2004 with Lockheed Martin as a program manager for logistics services. During his 6-year tenure, Spear was tasked with contracting with the Department of Homeland Security, ensuring cost, schedule and technical performance of programs effectively and adequately reflected company standards. As demand rises for cybersecurity professionals, so does their pay The demand for cybersecurity professionals far outstrips the supply of these highly skilled workers in the Washington area, a dynamic which experts and recruiters say is driving up compensation for qualified individuals and fueling fierce competition among employers to land top talent. Pay for cybersecurity analysts in the region jumped 10.1 percent this year, according to data compiled by consulting firm Akron on behalf of the Human Resource Association of the National Capital Area. That exceeds the growth in compensation across all jobs in the region, which was 2.1 percent this year. The scarcity of cybersecurity workers means that the job candidates "hold all the cards," said Kathy Lavinder, executive director of SI Placement, a Bethesda-based recruiting firm that specializes in placement for information security jobs.
